The Jolla Sailfish OS smartphone has been available in Europe since last December, and now the company behind the handset has announced it will be launching in India next month.
Jolla was set up by former Nokia and Meego executives, and now they are looking to expand the Sailfish OS handset to more countries.
“India is the rising smartphone market of the world,” said Jolla co-founder and CMO Sami Pienimäkiin statement. “We have received a tremendous amount of interest… to enter this great market.”
The Sailfish OS smartphone will be sold in India via Snapdeal, the company has yet to announce exactly when the handset will launch in India and how much it will retail for.
The handset is currently available in Europe for €399 and it features a 4.5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, the device is powered by a quad core 1.4GHz Snapdragon 400 processor and it features 1GB of RAM.
Other specifications on the Jolla smartphone include 16GB of built in storage, plus a microSD card slot that will give you an extra 64GB of storage. The handset also features a front facing 2 megapixel camera for video calls and an 8 megapixel rear facing camera for photos and video.
