Apple launched iTunes back in 2001, the company is getting rid of it with the release of macOS Catalina and it will be replaced by Apple Music, Apple TV and Apple Podcasts on the Mac. This will happen later this year when macOS 10.15 is launched.
iTunes changed the way people bought music and it has made Apple billions of dollars over the last 18 years.
Anything you have purchased previously through iTunes will be available in the three new Music, Podcasts and TV apps on the Mac and you will be able to use the Music app to manage existing devices like your iPod etc.
According to a recent report both the Music and Podcasts apps are expected to focus on personalized content for you, the TV app will offer the latest TV shows and movies and this will include Apple’s new TV Channels and Apple TV+ subscription services.
