As soon as Apple releases a new iPhone, the guys over at iSuppli give us some figures on how much Apple’s latest handset costs in parts, and according to their latest report this years iPhone 4 costs just $188 to make.
The most expensive component in the new iPhone 4 is the new Retina display, which apparently costs just $28.50, although these costs are for parts only and not for labor and other costs like shipping and advertising.
The $188 parts cost is based on a 16GB iPhone 4, and whilst these costs cant be guaranteed as exact, they are probably pretty close to the actual parts costs.
Apple is making a nice healthy profit on each iPhone 4 sold, and considering they announced that they sold a total of 1.7 million iPhone 4’s in just three days they must have made quite a bit of cash just from the iPhone 4 since it went on sale.
