You are a fan of the awesome XCOM: Enemy Unknown game you might be pleased to learn that an iOS version of the popular game will be launching in the iTunes iOS App Store later this week for $19.99.
iOS is the latest platform to receive the XCOM: Enemy Unknown game and follows on from the recent launch of the XCOM: Enemy Unknown Elite Edition on Mac systems back in April.
“An electrifying combination of turn-based tactics, global strategy and sophisticated role-playing, XCOM: Enemy Unknown – Elite Edition puts you in charge of XCOM, a top-secret military organization responsible for defending Earth from a devastating alien invasion.
Take command on the battlefield while you simultaneously develop XCOM’s headquarters, train and equip its forces and negotiate with national governments. As civilian attacks and abductions work to create worldwide panic, you must outsmart and overpower your mysterious enemies before government funding for XCOM dries up completely.”
Gameplay and Features
The new XCOM: Enemy Unknown iOS game will support iPad 2+, iPhone 4S+ and fifth generation iPod touch devices. This means that a wide range of Apple users will be able to enjoy the game on their mobile devices. The iOS version promises to deliver the same intense and strategic gameplay experience that fans have come to love on other platforms. Players will be able to engage in turn-based combat, where every decision can mean the difference between life and death for their squad members.
One of the standout features of XCOM: Enemy Unknown is its deep customization options. Players can personalize their soldiers with different skills, weapons, and armor, making each playthrough unique. The game also includes a permadeath mechanic, meaning that if a soldier dies in battle, they are gone for good. This adds a layer of tension and strategy, as players must carefully consider their moves to avoid losing valuable team members.
Strategic Depth and Replayability
Beyond the battlefield, XCOM: Enemy Unknown offers a rich strategic layer where players must manage resources, research new technologies, and expand their base of operations. The game’s dynamic campaign ensures that no two playthroughs are the same, with randomized missions and enemy placements keeping players on their toes. The global strategy aspect of the game requires players to make tough decisions about which countries to support and which to let fend for themselves, adding another layer of complexity to the game.
The iOS version of XCOM: Enemy Unknown also includes the “Second Wave” options, which were introduced in the game’s PC and console versions. These options allow players to tweak various gameplay parameters, such as soldier stats and mission difficulty, providing even more replayability and customization.
