Even though Intel and AMD are competitors they still have time to collaborate on certain projects, one of which is now available to purchase in the form of the Intel NUC mini PCs code named Islay Canyon. The small mini PC is equipped with a Whiskey Lake processor supported by AMD Radeon graphics.
Systems equipped with Intel Core i5-8265U and Core i7-8565U processors are available now available to purchase from online retailers such as Amazon, Newegg, SimplyNUC and Walmart. Each compact PC it supplied with 8GB of LPDDR3-1866 memory built-in, which unfortunately cannot be upgraded, but if desired you can install Intel Optane memory for a performance boost.
Other features on the mini PC include connectivity via Bluetooth 5.0, Gigabit Ethernet and wireless 8021.1ac support, with connections taking the form of HDMI 2.0b, Mini DisplayPort 1.2, 1 x USB 3.1 Type-C port and 3 x USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A ports.
