Two days ago, on July 5th, Instagram for the iOS got an update that enabled a new landscape mode for picture and video use. Taking photos and videos sideways tends to create a better picture quality and makes production easier and more professional-looking in the long run.
The update, which is numbered 4.0.2, also brings Cinema stabilization support to front-facing cameras. This means you’ll finally be able to take better videos of yourself while watching the screen! I’m not a big phone photo or videographer, but I hear that opens the door to quite a few more possibilities.
In related news, Vine is still a thing even though Instagram now offers the same service with videos that can twice as long. Maybe this update will make it even more competitive, since Vine doesn’t have a landscape mode, but I think Vine is around to stay for a bit longer. I don’t think it’s going away until this fad of six second videos is gone.
Honestly, I don’t really get the whole 6-second video phenomenon. There are a lot of other things I can do besides sitting around watching a plethora of mildly comical 6-second videos. But that’s just my opinion.
Do you Vine?
