Instagram has rolled out a new update this week taking its iOS application to version 3.2.0 and adding a wealth of new tweaks and enhancements together with a new filter.
The new Instagram filter is called “Willow” and provides a monochrome effect that has been requested by Instagram users for some time, together with an all-new camera for capturing images even quicker than before.
Enhanced Features and User Experience
Other features of the new Instagram update include improved tilt-shift quality, which enhances the miniature effect in photos, making them appear more professional and visually appealing. The addition of infinite scroll on user profiles and other grid views within the Instagram application allows users to browse through photos seamlessly without the need to click on “load more” buttons, enhancing the overall user experience.
Instagram explains:
“We added a Foursquare button on location pages that opens the Foursquare app (or Foursquare mobile website) with details about the venue. Filtered photos are now saved to a separate album called “Instagram” in the camera roll.”
The integration with Foursquare is particularly useful for users who enjoy exploring new places and sharing their experiences. By clicking the Foursquare button, users can quickly access detailed information about the venue, including reviews, tips, and photos from other visitors. This feature not only enriches the social aspect of Instagram but also encourages users to discover and share new locations.
Availability and Cross-Platform Updates
Instagram 3.2 for iOS and version 3.3 for Android are available now on the App Store and Google Play respectively. This simultaneous release ensures that users across both major mobile platforms can enjoy the new features and improvements without delay. The update also includes bug fixes and performance enhancements, ensuring a smoother and more reliable user experience.
In addition to Instagram’s update, Twitter has also rolled out new filter features to its apps for iOS and Android today. This move by Twitter indicates a growing trend among social media platforms to enhance their photo editing capabilities, providing users with more creative tools to express themselves.
The introduction of the “Willow” filter and other enhancements reflect Instagram’s commitment to listening to user feedback and continuously improving its platform. By offering new and innovative features, Instagram aims to maintain its position as a leading photo-sharing app in an increasingly competitive market.
