Previously, we heard that HTC is planning to abandon the development of the rumored Android Wear smartwatch, but it seems there’s more to it.
According to a new report, HTC is still working on a smartwatch, which is expected to see the light of the day in early 2015, according to CNET citing sources familiar with the matter.
Rumors suggested that HTC has abandoned its smartwatch developer because of the tough competition, and that it doesn’t offer anything different compared to the ones which are already in the market — that’s the rumor, not an official news. But, it seems things are alive and going well, if the latest report is correct.
The smartwatch arena is getting extremely competitive as most key players in the smartphone industry have released a wearable device — Samsung, Apple, Motorola, LG, etc.
Furthermore, HTC has scheduled an event on October 8th, but the company won’t discuss anything about the smartwatch, according to the report.
It’s not just the smartwatch, HTC is also said to be working on a Nexus tablet — Nexus 9 — which is said to launch later this year, powered by the NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor and featuring top-of-the-line specifications.
There’s no word from HTC about the tablet either, but we’ll update you as soon as we get any other information.
