Not too long ago, we heard a rumor that HTC is working on a budget-friendly tablet which is expected to launch in the second half of 2015.
Now, the alleged HTC H7 tablet was spotted on Zauba, an imports tracking website in India, for R&D purposes.
Specifications and Features
The listing on the logistics website also reveals some of the specifications the alleged tablet is expected to bring to the table. As per the listing on Zauba, the alleged HTC H7 will feature a 7-inch display, a quad-core 1.2GHz processor paired with 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. The tablet will reportedly feature a dual-SIM slot as well for cellular connectivity. This dual-SIM capability is particularly interesting as it allows users to manage two different phone numbers or data plans on the same device, which can be very useful for frequent travelers or those who want to separate work and personal communications.
Additionally, the 7-inch display size is quite standard for budget tablets, making it a portable yet functional device for everyday tasks such as browsing the web, watching videos, and using social media. The quad-core 1.2GHz processor, while not the most powerful on the market, should be sufficient for handling basic applications and multitasking without significant lag.
Pricing and Market Position
The listing on Zauba lists the price as INR 9,565 per unit, but its retail price is going to be a little higher than this. Nonetheless, it appears to be a good addition to the list of budget-friendly offerings from various manufacturers. For comparison, other budget tablets in the market, such as the Amazon Fire HD 7, are priced similarly and offer comparable specifications. This positions the HTC H7 as a competitive option for consumers looking for an affordable yet capable tablet.
Moreover, HTC’s entry into the budget tablet market could be seen as a strategic move to capture a segment of consumers who are price-sensitive but still want a reliable brand. HTC has a reputation for producing quality devices, and if the H7 lives up to this standard, it could attract a significant number of buyers.
It will be interesting to see what the tablet will offer when it’s officially announced. For instance, will it come with the latest version of Android, or will it have any unique software features that set it apart from other budget tablets? These are questions that potential buyers will be keen to have answered.
We’ll update you as soon as the tablet is officially announced by the Taiwanese company. Until then, the HTC H7 remains an intriguing prospect in the budget tablet market, promising a blend of essential features and affordability.
