Hitachi has today unveiled three new 3TB hard drives its just added to its extensive range. The new drives are available as either internal drive kits, external desktop drives, or in OEM form.
The new Hitachi Deskstar internal drives come in capacities of 2TB and 3TB with a 64MB buffer and a 6Gb/s SATA interface with a 7,200 rpm on the 7K3000 model.
The new external drives are also available in 3TB together with smaller 1TB and 2TB capacities if required and all have USB 2.0 connectivity and come enclosed in a curvy mat black enclosure, as above.
All the new drives are compatible with either Mac or PC systems although users of certain Windows Vista and Windows 7 installations will need to consult Hitachi’s 2.2TB web site to see if they need to install additional software.
They are available to purchase this week with the Hitachi XL external hard drives available for $250 for the 3TB, $170 for the 2TB and $100 for the 1TB, with the Hitachi Deskstar priced at around $250.
