Games developer Ninja Theory has this week made available Hellblade on the Switch console, but if like me you were wondering what performance you can expect from the game when compared to its more powerful PlayStation competitor. You may be interested in a new Hellblade Switch performance analysis video put together by the team at Digital Foundry providing more insight into what you can expect from its gameplay.
Nintendo Switch gamers may be interested to know that the Hellblade Switch game is a massive 19.5 GB download which is similar in size to that of the PC and PlayStation 4 versions. Although as you may have already guessed the Nintendo Switch version includes pared back texture assets. Digital foundry explains a little more about what you can expect.
“Firing up the port, first impressions were of astonishment – our first look at Senua (captured in the first comparison image below) reveals a remarkably close match to the same sequence playing out on PlayStation 4. As the sequence continues, the compromises start to become evident – resolution takes a massive hit, naturally, while post-processing quality and texture assets are clearly impacted. And yet, many of the detail-rich cutscenes seem bereft of compromise and resolve much more cleanly than gameplay.”
Hellblade for the Nintendo Switch is now available to purchase from the official Nintendo Store. “From the makers of Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, and DmC: Devil May Cry, comes a warrior’s brutal journey into myth and madness. Set in the Viking age, a broken Celtic warrior embarks on a haunting vision quest into Viking Hell to fight for the soul of her dead lover. Created in collaboration with neuroscientists and people who experience psychosis, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will pull you deep into Senua’s mind.”
