Hearthstone, the online trading card game being developed and published by Blizzard, has had its open beta pushed back to January 2014. Blizzard feels like it needs a bit more time to polish the game and get it running at its best, saying “there are still a few things that have come up that we want to fix before we leave the closed beta phase.”
There is a bit of good news though. Everyone who opted into the closed beta before December 16th, 2014 should’ve already received their invite keys. If you did opt in before then and haven’t received a key check your spam folder or Gmail’s new promotions tab; a lot of people have reported finding their invites in either location.
Blizzard is the king of game delays, but this isn’t really that long. Most people are probably going to be more concerned with the holidays and New Years to even think about Hearthstone.
I like card games, but if I’m going to play something online or on a computer I’d rather there be a bit more to it that something I could create using note cards. Does Hearthstone sound like something that would interest you? Are you playing it right now?
