Google has this week announced that it will be closing down the Google My Tracks application later this year on April 30th, unfortunately making it completely unavailable to those that might still be using it.
Google has taken the decision to reinvest its efforts into other more far-reaching mapping projects and has provided instructions on how to export your data as well as find other possible applications that will allow you to continue tracking your outdoor activities with ease.
Google explains more over on the official Google Support website :
After April 30, 2016, My Tracks will no longer be available. We apologize for the inconvenience this might cause My Tracks users. We’ve made the tough decision to invest our efforts into other, more wide-reaching, mapping projects. Below are some resources to help you manage or export your data and find other apps to continue tracking your activities.
Tip: Even though you won’t be able to track your activities using My Tracks after April 30, you’ll still be able to export your data after that date.
