In conjunction with todays launch of their new Google Drive service. Google has also announced that they are now increasing the storage limit on their Gmail accounts to 10GB as standard for free.
The new increase from the current 7.5 GB to the new 10GB of storage will take effect in user accounts over the next 24 hours. Also with the launch of Google Drive, when you upgrade to a paid account, your Gmail account storage will also expand to 25GB.
Google Drive has been designed to provide you with a place where you can create, share, collaborate, and keep all of your documents and media for easy access. Google explains:
“Whether you’re working with a friend on a joint research project, planning a wedding with your fiancé or tracking a budget with roommates, you can do it in Drive. You can upload and access all of your files, including videos, photos, Google Docs, PDFs and beyond.”
