Not too long ago, Microsoft introduced the budget-friendly Surface 3 tablet. The software giant has focused on education a lot lately, offering schools and educational institutes discounts on its products and services.
Educational institutes can already avail a 10 percent discount on the Surface Pro 3, and Microsoft is now extending the discount to the newly announced Surface 3 as well as the Surface Pen and Type Cover. It’s not just the discount, the company announced a 32GB Surface 3 with 2GB of RAM which will be exclusively available for schools and other educational institutes.
There’s no word about the price of this new configuration. The 64GB base model starts at $499 so we can expect this new configuration to be a little cheaper, but it’s only available for students and educational institutes.
Customers interested in picking up the model will be able to do so from the company’s commercial resellers and the Microsoft Store.
Unlike the Surface 2, the new Surface 3 comes with a full version of Windows 8.1, and will be upgradeable to Windows 10 when it launches later this year. Reports hint that Windows 10 will see the light of the day by July, which may be a little too early as there are several bugs in the current build of the technical preview.
