Electronic enthusiasts, makers and hobbyists needing battery packs to power their projects may be interested in a new DIY lithium ion battery building kit, created by Micah Toll and launched by Kickstarter this week. The new kits offer a simple way to make your own DIY lithium-ion battery packs using 18650 cells. The “Vruzend” system makes modular, customisable lithium batteries for any application. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more.
The latest kits include a number of improvements over previous editions including superior polymer for more resilient plastic caps, elongated terminal posts to allow more busbars, spring contact includes stopper for more even insertion and improved mold tolerances makes assembly even easier. “Are you a maker? Do you enjoy building things yourself? Do you have a project that needs lithium-ion batteries for energy storage? We created a solution just for you! Our 18650 battery connectors make it easy to build your own DIY lithium-ion batteries of any size, voltage, capacity and power level that you need to fit your project! “
18650 cells are one of the most prevalent types of lithium-ion battery cells and using the DIY battery kit you can combine up to 6 together to provide the exact power requirements your project needs. The V1.5 kit includes enough for 52 cells and includes 104 caps with SS spring contacts, 104 SS nuts, 130 SS bus bars, 6 brass wire clamps and 6 zip ties. Pledges are available from $25 or £17 and worldwide shipping is expected to take place during May 2018.
