
Raspberry Pi enthusiasts that also enjoy a perfectly brewed cup of tea, may be interested in this intelligent DIY Raspberry Pi tea maker, that makes use of an old computer DVD drive to help autonomously make the perfect cup of tea. Created by a team of makers consisting of Mohammad Ghamary, Ehsan Aerabi, Mehrdad Hosseini, and Erfan Saghabashi the project has been kindly published to the Hackster.io website offering full instructions on how to use a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B mini PC to make your very own tea maker.
The Raspberry Pi has been combined with a Maxim Integrated DS18B20 Programmable Resolution 1-Wire Digital Thermometer, Texas Instruments Dual H-Bridge motor drivers L293D combined with a DVD drive and a handful of other components including resistors, relays and diodes.
The tea maker has been created to provide a way of autonomously brewing a cup of tea when you arrive home, at the perfect temperature and consistency. By heating water and pumping the required amount into a glass and dunking the teabag for the correct amount of time. It’s creators explain “when you have a hard day in work it’s so desirable to drink a hot tea when you arrive home. But you so tired and it’s difficult to go to kitchen and start making tea.”
