A new device called the Bionym Nymi in the form of a bracelet has been designed over the last 10 years and is hoping to replace your passwords and logins.
Bionym the company started by Dr. Karl Martin has been developing the new Nymi bracelet which centres on your electrocardiogram, a measure not of your heart rate but of the electrical activity generated by your heart.
Martin explains that biometric sensors are no better than your average password saying :”Your face, your iris — they’re all physical features that can be stolen, that you leave everywhere.” The Nymi bracelet measures your ECG which is dependent on the size, position, and physiology of their heart and is completely unique to each individual person. Watch the video after the jump to learn more about the Nymi bracelet project and see it in action.
“The Nymi is the first wearable authentication technology that allows you to take control of your identity through cardiac rhythm recognition. Authenticate once and remain authenticated until the wristband is removed. Move beyond passwords, pins and locks and interact with the technology that fills your daily life with proximity detection and task-based gesture control. The Nymi presents a new and exciting system that grants you access for being you!”
The Nymi bracelet is now available to directly from the Bionym website.
