Bad news manual transmission fans who are in the market for an Audi. The automaker has confirmed that with the 2019 model Audis turning up at dealers this year there will be no manual transmission option in any of the line.
The Audi A4 and A5 have both had manual options since the current generation of those cars launched. That will no longer be the case with the only transmission offering available for 2019 forward models being the 7-speed automatic.
The reason Audi has cited for ditching the manual option is that buyers weren’t choosing it. Only 5% of A4 buyers in the US opted for the manual transmission. Audi fans only have themselves to blame for this. That said, perhaps it’s not that big of a deal since most buyers of the cars were staying away from manual anyway.
