Makers, hobbyists and developers that enjoy building projects using the awesome Arduino Uno development board may be interested in a new enclosure that has been designed by JEM Innovation called the ELK Junior.
The ELK Junior Arduino Uno case is equipped with a number of excellent features that include a custom moulded section for the LCD JEMshield++ together with a keypad, backlight, beeper, 2 relays and a breadboard area.
The included LCD screen offers a 4 digit, 7 segement LCD with icons and backlight and the LCD driver with SPI interface, requires only 4 pins from the main processor. Its creator explain more :
“Most projects require some way to tell the user what’s going on. Often, a simple seven segment LCD is the perfect answer: low power (microamps); easy to read in sunlight but also readable in the dark (with backlight); inexpensive but rugged and reliable.
The downside: they eat up a lot of pins on your processor and require a complicated, multi-volt driving waveform. The LCD JEMshield++ solves these issues by including a dedicated LCD driver chip.”
