The Apple Watch will launch some time in April, Apple has yet to confirm the exact release date for the device, and tall three models are expected to be available at launch.
According to a recent report by the WSJ, Apple has ordered between five million and six million units of the Apple Watch from their supplier for the initial production run.
Around fifty percent of the initial order is said to be for the Apple Watch Sport, this is the model that we know the pricing for, it will retail for $349.
The middle range model, the Apple Watch is said to make up one third of the initial production run, Apple has not revealed the pricing for this model, although it is expected to retail for more than $500.
Orders of the high end 18k gold Watch Edition are expected to be limited in the initial production run, although Apple are expected to increase production of this model in quarter two, and the company is expecting the device to be popular in China.
The initial run of five or 6 million units of the device is similar to the initial production run of Apple’s original iPad, the device ended up being more popular than Apple thought.
