With the Apple and Samsung trial in full force in the US we are getting more and more details about the dealings between the two companies, and now we have some details on how much Apple wanted to charge Samsung for patent licenses.
According to a recent report by The Verge, Apple wanted to charge Samsung $30 for each smartphone and $40 for each tablet that they sold, these figures were from a 2010 meeting between the two companies.
Apple also proposed to offer Samsung a 20 percent discount if the licensed certain Samsung patents back to Apple, on the surface these figures seem quite high and would have added to the cost of Samsung devices.
It will be interesting to see what conclusion the court comes to on the various patent cases, and whether they think these proposed licensing deals were too high.
