We have been hearing more and more rumors that the iPhone 5 will launch in September at the same time as iOS 5, and now according to a recent report from DigiTimes, Apple has ordered 15 million iPhone 5’s from Pegatron technology.
Pegatron has declined to comment on whether they will be supplying the iPhone 5, although there are reports that a number of companies have already started shipping parts for the iPhone 5 to Pegatron.
The sources pointed out that as the iPhone 5, which does not seem to have any major update from iPhone 4, is already set for shipment in September, they are already started supplying components to Pegatron with Pegatron’s plants in Shanghai, China also recently started hiring for manpower.
We have heard rumors before that the iPhone 5 may be a minor update over the iPhone 4, similar to the iPhone 3GS update over the iPhone 3G, although we have also heard that the iPhone 5 may have a larger display, and Apple’s newA5 processor that is found in the new iPad 2.
