It seems the rumors about adding more manufacturing partners and cutting down iPhone 5C orders in favor of iPhone 5S were correct. The shipping times for the iPhone 5S are down to one to three days for all configurations and color options, excluding the SIM-Free variant which is still showing a shipment date of 1-2 weeks. Last month, the shipping times improved to 3-5 days on the online Apple Store.
It’s not just the US, the folks at MacRumors report that the shipping times improved in other parts of the world including Europe, Asia-Pacific and Middle East. The availability also improved in Apple’s retail stores and the handset is available for immediate pick-up.
Since its launch in September, iPhone 5S has seen supply constraints and was sold out within hours after the orders went live on September 20th, especially the Gold color option. The shipping time were pushed back to ten days and were further pushed back to October. Reports suggested it was mainly due to supply constraints because of low yield of the Touch ID sensor on the iPhone 5S.
Not too long ago, Piper Gaffray’s analyst Gene Munster mentioned that Apple is catching up with the demand of the iPhone 5S.
For a quick recall, iPhone 5S comes with a 4-inch Retina display sporting a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels, 64-bit A7 processor, 16/32/64GB storage options, Touch ID sensor and runs iOS 7 out of the box.
