At Apple’s press event yesterday, the company announced that they would be launching Apple Pay next Monday, the 20th of October.
Apple Pay will be enabled on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus when iOS 8.1 is released, and iOS 8.1 will also launch next Monday.
New Features in iOS 8.1
As well as Apple Pay, iOS 8.1 will bring a range of other new features to Apple’s iOS devices, which will include the return of Camera Roll. This was something that was removed in iOS 8.0, much to the dismay of many users who found it a convenient way to access their recently taken photos. The return of Camera Roll is expected to be a welcome change for those who rely on it for quick photo management.
iOS 8.1 will also introduce a beta version of iCloud Photo Library to the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. This feature will sync all of your photos across all of your devices, ensuring that your photo library is up-to-date no matter which device you are using. Additionally, you will be able to back up all of your photos to iCloud Drive, providing a secure and accessible way to store your memories.
Improvements and Bug Fixes
We should have more details on iOS 8.1 when it is released on Monday. Hopefully, it will also fix some of the other issues that people have had with iOS 8. Users have reported various bugs and performance issues since the release of iOS 8, including Wi-Fi connectivity problems, battery drain issues, and app crashes. Apple has been working diligently to address these concerns, and iOS 8.1 is expected to bring significant improvements in these areas.
For example, many users experienced issues with HealthKit, Apple’s health and fitness tracking platform, which was initially delayed due to a critical bug. With iOS 8.1, HealthKit is expected to function more reliably, allowing users to track their health data seamlessly.
Another anticipated improvement is in the area of third-party keyboard support. While iOS 8 introduced the ability to use third-party keyboards, many users encountered glitches and compatibility issues. iOS 8.1 aims to enhance the stability and performance of these keyboards, providing a smoother typing experience.
Moreover, iOS 8.1 is expected to bring enhancements to the overall performance and stability of the operating system. This includes optimizing the system for better battery life, reducing instances of app crashes, and improving the responsiveness of the user interface.
In addition to these improvements, iOS 8.1 will likely include security updates to protect users from potential vulnerabilities. Apple has always prioritized the security of its devices, and regular updates are essential to maintaining a secure ecosystem.
Overall, iOS 8.1 promises to be a significant update that not only introduces new features like Apple Pay and iCloud Photo Library but also addresses the concerns and feedback from users. Apple’s commitment to continuously improving its software ensures that users can enjoy a seamless and reliable experience on their iOS devices.
