Facebook has today updated its Android application to version 1.5 which includes some great new features, however the new features are only supported for devices running Android 2.2 or greater.
The two new features that userswill be delighted about are the new chat feature that can run in the background mode, allowing you can receive messages while using other apps and push notifications.
Unfortunately the the push notifications only reference chat, not other events such as comments so the app still has a little way to go before its on a par with the Facebook app.
The new Facebook app is available to download for free from the Android marketplace.
