Erica Sadun, creator of Airplayer a utility which transforms your Mac into an AirPlay receiver has today unveiled her latest creation AirFlick that could allow you to stream non-iTunes media from your Mac to your Apple TV.
The new AirFlick utility finds and connects to your Apple TV device (second-generation only) then allows you to paste in the URL of a iTunes-friendly file that you want to play, and starts streaming without the need for iTunes.
AirFlick is still only in Alpha release at the moment but Sadun is confident that the new system has plenty of potential to stream non-iTunes compatible media to your Apple TV in the near future.
If you are interested in giving the utility a try you can download AirFlick 0.01 alpha from Erica’s repository of AirPlay utilities. But remember its still in Alpha release at the moment and maybe a little unstable in its current state.
