We have already heard a number of rumors about next years iPhone 12 and now we have some details about the 2021 iPhone 13.
According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who has a proven track record with Apple devices, the 2021 iPhone 13 will ditch the Lightning port and will be completely wireless. This will be available on at least one version of the handset, probably the top model.
This means that the only way to charge the handset will be with a wireless charger, you would also not be able to connect it to a Mac or PC with a cable, so we presume Apple will do this wirelessley, probably with Bluetooth.
Apple will create more differentiation between the highest-end and high- end models. It will benefit the shipment of the highest-end model and iPhone ASP. Among new 2H21 iPhone models, we expect that the highest-end model would cancel the [Lightning] port and provide the completely wireless experience.
It looks like this will be done on the high end model first so it will probably be 2022 before all of the iPhones go completely wireless.
Apple are expected to bring a number of design changes to their iPhone 12 in 2020 and now it looks like we will also see some major design changes with the 2021 iPhones.
