War of the Roses is first person fighting game with a difference, instead of using pistols and machine guns, within War of the Roses players are equipped with swords and crossbows.
War of the Roses is a medieval themed action game currently under development by Fatshark and is set to be released by Paradox Interactive on PC in the second quarter of 2012.
During PAX 2012 the Destructoid team were able to get more details on the game directly from Senior Producer Gordon Van Dyke, formerly of DICE, about how you make a competitive medieval multiplayer game in the video below.
“The driving focus of the game is creating a multiplayer game with the same accessibility as the best competitive shooters currently out there, but in a medieval setting with a primary emphasis on melee combat.
The focus of the core gameplay is on the Multiplayer experience, but we will have an engaging and immersive story driven single player campaign designed to prepare and train players for the multiplayer experience. The single player campaign will give the players direct rewards to use in the multiplayer battles.”
