Samsung and T-Mobile recently announced the new Galaxy S Relay 4G, and now we have some details on the launch date and pricing. The handset will be available from T-Mobile on the 19th of September.
The Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G will be available for $150 after a $50 mail-in rebate, and you will have to sign up for a new two-year contract with T-Mobile.

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and features a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard, a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S3 processor, plus it comes with a rear-facing 5-megapixel camera for photos and video and a 1.3-megapixel front camera for video chat.
Key Features and Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G is designed to cater to users who prefer a physical keyboard over a touchscreen for typing. The slide-out QWERTY keyboard is one of its standout features, making it an attractive option for business professionals and heavy texters. The device’s dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S3 processor ensures smooth performance for everyday tasks and moderate gaming.
The 5-megapixel rear camera is capable of capturing decent quality photos and videos, suitable for casual photography. Meanwhile, the 1.3-megapixel front camera is ideal for video calls and selfies, although it may not deliver the high resolution that some users might expect from more recent devices.
Software and Connectivity
Running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Galaxy S Relay 4G offers a user-friendly interface with access to a wide range of apps through the Google Play Store. Although Android 4.0 is not the latest version of the operating system, it still provides a solid experience with essential features like multitasking, customizable home screens, and improved notifications.
In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy S Relay 4G supports T-Mobile’s 4G network, ensuring fast internet speeds for browsing, streaming, and downloading. The device also includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS capabilities, making it versatile for various connectivity needs.
The phone comes with 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card slot, allowing users to store more apps, photos, and media files. Additionally, the device is equipped with a 1800mAh battery, which should provide enough power to last through a typical day of use.
Design and Build Quality
The Galaxy S Relay 4G features a sleek and compact design, with a sturdy build that feels comfortable in hand. The slide-out keyboard mechanism is robust and smooth, ensuring that it can withstand frequent use without issues. The 4-inch Super AMOLED display offers vibrant colors and sharp visuals, making it enjoyable for watching videos and browsing photos.
Despite its physical keyboard, the device remains relatively slim and lightweight, making it easy to carry around. The combination of a touchscreen and a physical keyboard provides users with the flexibility to choose their preferred input method, enhancing the overall user experience.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G is a well-rounded smartphone that caters to a niche market of users who value a physical keyboard. Its combination of decent hardware, solid performance, and versatile connectivity options make it a reliable choice for both personal and professional use. While it may not have the latest software or the highest resolution cameras, it offers a balanced package that should satisfy the needs of many users.
