Yesterday, Barnes & Noble introduced their new Nook Tablet, which is due to launch in the UK later this month, and will retail for $249.99. Now, we have a couple of videos which give us a look at the new Nook Tablet.
The Nook Tablet will come with a 7-inch IPS LCD touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. It also features a dual-core 1GHz processor and 1GB of RAM, plus 16GB of built-in storage and a microSD card slot.

Features and Specifications
The Nook Tablet is designed to be a versatile device for both reading and multimedia consumption. The 7-inch IPS LCD touchscreen ensures vibrant colors and wide viewing angles, making it ideal for watching videos and reading eBooks. The dual-core 1GHz processor, combined with 1GB of RAM, ensures smooth performance for most tasks, including web browsing, streaming, and running apps.
The 16GB of built-in storage provides ample space for storing eBooks, apps, and media files. Additionally, the microSD card slot allows users to expand the storage capacity up to 32GB, offering flexibility for those who need more space. This is particularly useful for users who want to store a large library of eBooks or download movies and TV shows for offline viewing.
Comparison with Amazon’s Kindle Fire
The launch of the Nook Tablet comes at a time when Amazon’s Kindle Fire is also hitting the market. Both devices are priced similarly, with the Kindle Fire retailing at $199.99, making them direct competitors. The Kindle Fire also features a 7-inch display and a dual-core processor, but it has only 8GB of built-in storage and no microSD card slot for expansion.
One of the key differences between the two devices is the ecosystem they are tied to. The Nook Tablet is integrated with Barnes & Noble’s extensive library of eBooks, magazines, and newspapers, making it an excellent choice for avid readers. On the other hand, the Kindle Fire is deeply integrated with Amazon’s ecosystem, offering access to a vast selection of eBooks, movies, TV shows, and apps through Amazon Prime.
Another point of comparison is the user interface. The Nook Tablet runs on a customized version of Android, offering a user-friendly interface with easy access to Barnes & Noble’s content. The Kindle Fire also runs on a customized version of Android, known as Fire OS, which is designed to promote Amazon’s services and content.
It will be interesting to see how popular the new Nook Tablet will become. With both the Nook Tablet and Amazon’s Kindle Fire launching at around the same time this month, we suspect there could be some competition between the two devices. The choice between the two will likely come down to user preference and which ecosystem they are more invested in.
