Apple’s next version of its mobile OS, iOS 5 will be released this week, on Wednesday the 12th of October, and the guys over at 9 to 5 Mac have been doing some digging around in iOS 5 and have discovered a reference to a version of Apple’s set top box, the Apple TV.
According to the report, a reference has been found to an Apple TV 3,1, the model number for the current Apple TV is 2,1, and we could possibly see the new Apple TV launch with an A5 processor which is found in the iPad 2 and the new iPhone 4S which goes on sale later this week.
A dual core Apple TV would mean it would be capable of full high definition video in 1080p, and who knows we could possibly see some Apps launch on the Apple TV when the next generation model becomes available.
