Xiaomi has managed to come in the top five largest smartphone manufacturers list, but it’s not operating in a lot of markets as Apple and Samsung. The company mainly operates in China, and has expanded to other developing markets such as India and Malaysia.
The company is not in a rush to expand to major markets like the United States, but it seems there’s still a slight possibility. According to a new report, the Chinese OEM is reportedly planning an event on February 12th in San Francisco.
The main motive behind the event in one of the technology hubs is not yet know, but there’s a possibility that the Chinese company may share some details about its expansion plans for the US, or launch some sort of hardware for the US market. The company could just be planning to launch a research and development center, or some sort of partner with companies in the US. There are several options available, but we have no clue what the company is thinking about.
They’ve already received their fair share of success in India where they are following their flash sale model, and exclusively sell their handsets via FlipKart.
It remains to be seen what Xiaomi plans to do, but February 12th is around the corner. We’ll find out if there’s anything interesting.
