Anyone searching for a high precision desktop 3D scanner may be interested in a new device created by the team at Wild Cats 3D based in the United Kingdom. The desktop 3D scanner is currently capable of providing the ability to scan objects up to 220 x 220 x 220mm in size. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about the desktop 3D scanner which has this week launched by a Kickstarter to raise the £50,000 required to make the jump into production.
Early bird backers can be the first to get their hands on the new 3D scanner during December 2018, thanks to pledges starting from £545. “All scans shown for this project are actual scans with no editing or clean up. Our goal from the start has been to produce a high precision 3d scanner with software that was simple to use and yet very powerful for under $1000 / £1000 whilst remaining flexible in design.”
“This Kickstarter is for a complete kit of parts to build a high resolution 3D scanner, comprehensive construction manual (PDF) and our unique Wildcats 3D scanning software or if you prefer a ready built scanner (95% Complete) all the technical bits done. As can be seen in the photo gallery the early prototype used a webcam type camera this has been upgraded to a remote focusable high quality 5mp camera and we have switched to blue lasers, these changes increase the scan quality greatly as can be seen in the introduction video and demonstration videos.”
