You must be living under a rock if you don’t know what is WhatsApp. It’s a cross platform messaging service that allows users to communicate with your friends and family via 3G or Wifi. Currently, the application is available on all major mobile platforms including Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Blackberry, and Nokia phones (running good old symbian).
WhatsApp for Windows Phone has received a lot of criticisms as it lacked development for this OS. The beta application was launched in April and since, it has been a pain for the Windows Phone users to use the application as it was full of bugs and errors. One of the major errors faced by users was related to the notifications. In order to receive notifications, WhatsApps users had to rely on a third party hack that affected battery life of the smartphones.
But, worry no more as your woes have been heard by WhatsApp. A new update has been released that focuses on fixing major bugs in the application such as fixed notifications, new smileys, initiate voice calls from within the app, it asks users to backup their chat history on startup (the same option can be used from app settings as well), fast resume and much more.
The current version of the application is 2.10.491.0 which can be downloaded from Windows Phone Store. The application is compatible with both Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 7.5. Did you update WhatsApp on your Windows Phone handset? Did the update solve the issues and problems? Feel free to comment.
