Virtual reality developers interested in earning a slice of $50,000, may be interested to know that the Viveport Developer Awards 2018 are now accepting submissions, and follows on from last year’s successful event, which helped fund a variety of different start-ups across a wide variety of categories.
$50,000 is the first-place prize for each category, and comes with a studio profile video produced by the team at Vive, “priority access” to new developer hardware and of course a trophy for your reception area or garage. Second place winners will receive $20,000 together with the perks already mentioned. To remind you of last year’s 2017 winners, the games Apollo 11 VR , Fantastic Contraption , Cloudlands: VR Minigolf and Allumette where winners benefiting from prize money.
To be considered for entry HTC explains that projects will be evaluated by a panel of Vive employees based on the following criteria : Overall virtual reality experience including, but not limited to, how fun, useful and engaging the title is and engagement metrics including, but not limited to, total downloads, total user sessions and overall time played. As you might have already guessed applications should already be listed on Viveport the company’s online virtual reality application and immersive VR experience portal before the submission window closes early next month on February 9th, 2018.
