VIA has this week unveiled a new addition to their range of boards in the form of the COMe-8X90 module. Which has been created for industrial applications, more rugged environments, and large OEM customers.
The new VIA COMe-8X90 module, is equipped with a 1.2GHz VIA Nano X2 E-Series dual core processor, together with a VIA VX900H media system processor.
The COMe-8X90 module has been created by Via to provide a solution to larger OEM suppliers with the opportunity for a solution to aim in the development of areas such as medical, digital signage, advanced gaming solutions and industrial automation.
As well as the COMe-8X90 Via will also offer a starter kit which will come with a multi-I/O carrier board reference design, board support packages (BSPs), display, system monitoring tools/SDKs, and design guide. Making it easier for OEM customers to develop their solutions in less time.
“COM Express modules integrate core CPU, chipset and memory on the module, provide support for extensive connectivity options, including USB, audio, video, and Ethernet, through board-to-board connectors to an I/O carrier board. The modular approach allows for short time-to market, application-specific customisation, simplified development, high stability and long life cycles.”
No information on pricing has been released as yet by VIA, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always, and more information is likely to be made available at the upcoming Embedded World 2012 Exhibition and Conference.
