VIA has this week unveiled a new addition to their embedded mini PC range in the form of the ARTiGO A1200. The ARTiGO A1200 measures just 23.4 x 12.4 x 3.0cm in size and is equipped with a 1.0GHz VIA Eden X2 dual core processor, supported by up to 4GB of DDR3 1066 SODIMM RAM.
Design and Build Quality
The ultra slim dustproof design uses the industrial buckled-blade thermal fin design to dissipate heat, and the passively cooled design means it also very quiet during operation. This makes the ARTiGO A1200 an excellent choice for environments where noise levels need to be kept to a minimum, such as libraries, offices, or home media centers. The robust construction ensures durability, making it suitable for industrial applications as well.
Performance and Connectivity
The mini PC supports HD video, MPEG-2, DivX, WM9, VC1, and H.264 formats together with hardware acceleration. This makes it a versatile device for multimedia applications, capable of handling a variety of video formats with ease. Whether you’re streaming high-definition content or running complex video applications, the ARTiGO A1200 is up to the task.
The unique dual-sided I/O coastline interface of the ARTiGO A1200 mini PC features 1 x HDMI and 1 x VGA display, 2 x Ethernet ports, 4 x USB 2.0, 1 x CFast socket, 2 x audio jacks, and an optional USB 3.0 host port. This extensive range of connectivity options ensures that the ARTiGO A1200 can be easily integrated into a wide variety of setups. For example, the dual Ethernet ports can be used for network redundancy or to separate different types of network traffic, enhancing both reliability and performance.
Additionally, the inclusion of both HDMI and VGA ports allows for flexible display options, catering to both modern and legacy monitors. The CFast socket provides a high-speed storage solution, ideal for applications that require fast data access and transfer rates. The optional USB 3.0 host port further expands the device’s capabilities, allowing for faster data transfer speeds and compatibility with a wide range of peripherals.
Unfortunately, no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet by VIA. However, given the features and specifications, the ARTiGO A1200 is expected to be competitively priced within the embedded mini PC market. More information about the new arrival is available on the web page.
