Makers, developers and enthusiasts building distance related projects may be interested to know that the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sonar distance sensor is now available to purchase directly from the Adafruit online store priced at just $3.95. The low-cost sensors are fast and easy-to-use and will require a 5 V power supply for best results. “While the Trig signal can be 3V or 5V, the ‘return’ Echo signal is 5V logic.”
Specifications of the ultrasonic sonar distance sensor that can be used with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, CircuitPython and more include :
– Power & Logic Voltage: DC 5V
– Current during measurment: 15mA
– Ultrasonic Frequency: 40 KHz
– Measuring Angle: 15º
– Trigger Input Signal: 10uS high pulse
– Sensor dimensions (excluding header): 45.5 x 20 x 15.5mm
– Weight: 8.7g
Adafruit explain a little more about their functionality and application. “These ubiquitous sensors are really common in robotics projects, but they can also be used for automation, interactive art and motion sensing. They work at about 2cm to 400cm away, but we think 10cm-250cm will get you the best results.” For more details and purchasing options jump over to the official Adafruit online store by following the link below.
