After successfully launching a new wallet created from titanium the team at Trayvax Enterprises Abbott have returned to Kickstarter for third time to launch their new Trayvax Trek Field Knife which is available in either standard 440C high carbon steel or a more premium CPM S35VN material depending on your needs.
The Trayvax Trek Field Knife has a length of 7.9 inches and a blade of 3.5 inches, allowing for a firm grasp and cutting when performing detailed tasks. “Skeletonized Frame: Provides a lightweight design that is easy to clean and maintain, can easily be adorned with paracord or handle scales. Additionally it can be lashed and used for survival tasks. Notched ‘jimping’ on spine of knife provides textured grip for thumb when extra control is needed. “

“3.5” Hybrid Blade: Creates a blade with a gently angled swept main edge for controlled carving and chopping, leading into a condensed belly section for delicate slicing or caping and finishing into a 40º leading edge for a durable tip all combining to make a Trayvax signature blade. “
The different materials available include :
– Standard 440C: A high-carbon, high-alloy steel achieving corrosion resistance through the addition of 16-18% chromium. This material is a tried and true choice for a variety of applications requiring a tough and hardenable steel. You’ll find it used in industrial application for roller bearings and races, valve components such as seats, seals and nozzles in highly caustic environments. Due to its high carbon content and ability to be precisely hardened it makes an excellent choice for use in high end knives. It is an industry standard used for fine kitchen cutlery all the way to field and bowie knives.
– Premium CPM S35VN: The cream of the crop when it comes to stainless knife steels, this material will deliver inexhaustible performance across the board. Originally created as an improvement upon S30V, a alloy created through the collaboration of Crucible Industries and legendary custom knife maker Chris Reeve. S35VN can be found in use almost exclusively on premium knives and is considered one of the best stainless steel alloys for performance blades.
