Smartphones have become increasingly popular over the last few years, with devices like the Apple iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy range of smartphones being some of the most popular ones.
Smartphones were first introduced back in 1996, although they became much more popular when Apple launch their first iPhone in 2007, and now according to a recent report there are more than 1 billion smartphones in use around the world.
The report comes from research firm Strategy Analytics who has said that there are now more than 1.038 billion smartphones around the world, this number is expected to increase significantly over the next few years.
Apple and their iOS platform and Google and their Android platform are the two major players in the smartphone market, with devices from both companies dominating the market.
