The HTC One is one of the hottest, and arguably best, smartphones on the market right now, but that doesn’t mean it’s perfect. Like all devices, it can stand to be improved quite a bit. It’s taken a bit to get here, but the HTC One is finally receiving its first major update in the form of the 4.2 Android update.
The update answers a lot of complaints people had about the HTC One while also adding Android 4.2 features such as the Daydream screensaver, lock-screen widgets (or, to be more precise, widget), and quick settings toggles. The update also makes screenshots instantly shareable and integrates Instagram with HTC’s BlinkFeed. The video below shows many of these features and more.
If you’re looking at your HTC One and wondering why it hasn’t received the updates yet, don’t panic. It’ll take a bit more time for the update to roll out to the entire world of HTC One users, especially all the different carrier-brands in the US. At least it’s something to look forward to though.
Hopefully this won’t be the final update for the phone either, but you can never know for certain with the way technology goes nowadays. HTC might put out a better phone before the next major update.
If given the choice, would you rather buy a new phone or simply update your old phone? Obviously the cost effective option is the latter, but then you’d be behind technologically. How important is the latest and greatest to you?
