The UK government is looking to replace some of its vehicles with electric vehicles, and it looks like Tesla may end up landing a larger order for their Tesla Model S, which could be worth around millions of pound to Tesla
Tesla could possibly score an order for 150 Tesla Model S vehicles, as the UK government intends to purchase 150 electric vehicles, although they have a budget of £5 million for the purchase.
The UK government had budgeted £5 million for the purchase of 150 EV’s, which would allow them to purchase around 150 BMW i3’s.
Although now it would appear that they may be looking at purchasing Tesla Model S vehicles, which are more expensive, but are capable or traveling much further.
The BMW I3 has a range of around 81 miles and costs around £30,000, the Tesla Model S retails for around £50,000 in the UK, but it will give a range of around 250 miles per charge.
The British government could decide to spend the extra cash on 150 Tesla Model S vehicles, as these cars whilst costing around £20,000 more than the BMW i3, would give them a longer range.
If the deal goes through, it could be worth around £7.5 million for Tesla in the UK, and it would also give the company some great publicity for their new EV’s in the UK.
