Tesla revealed their new Tesla Model 3 last week, and now Tesla CEO Elon Musk has shared more details about their new electric vehicle on Twitter.
The Tesla Model 3 will come with Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) as standard and it will also offer All Wheel Drive (AWD) as an option. You can see the tweet below.
Model 3 will be RWD, with dual motor AWD optional. Even RWD will have great traction on ice due to fast torque response of Tesla drivetrain.

Performance and Range
We also know from the announcement of the car that it will have a range of around 215 miles on a single charge. This range is quite competitive in the electric vehicle market, making it a viable option for both daily commutes and longer trips. The Model 3 will also boast a 0 to 60 miles per hour time of under six seconds, which is impressive for a vehicle in its price range. This quick acceleration is due to the instant torque provided by the electric drivetrain, a hallmark of Tesla vehicles.
The Model 3’s performance on ice and slippery conditions is also noteworthy. Elon Musk mentioned that even the RWD version will have excellent traction on ice due to the fast torque response of the Tesla drivetrain. This makes the Model 3 a versatile vehicle suitable for various weather conditions, enhancing its appeal to a broader audience.
Pre-Orders and Pricing
Elon Musk also revealed that pre-orders of the Model 3 had hit a massive 276,000 as of Saturday night. This is up considerably from the 150,000 pre-orders we heard about at the end of last week. The surge in pre-orders indicates strong consumer interest and confidence in Tesla’s ability to deliver a high-quality, affordable electric vehicle.
Tesla will launch their new Tesla Model 3 in late 2017, and prices for the car will start at $35,000. However, with Federal rebates, the cost should come down to around $27,500. This pricing strategy makes the Model 3 one of the most affordable electric vehicles on the market, potentially accelerating the adoption of electric cars.
The Model 3 is expected to come with several advanced features, including Tesla’s renowned Autopilot system, which offers semi-autonomous driving capabilities. This system uses a combination of cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors to navigate and avoid obstacles, making driving safer and more convenient.
Additionally, the Model 3 will likely include over-the-air software updates, a feature that allows Tesla to continuously improve the vehicle’s performance and add new features without requiring a visit to the service center. This capability sets Tesla apart from many traditional automakers and ensures that the Model 3 remains up-to-date with the latest technology.
In summary, the Tesla Model 3 is shaping up to be a game-changer in the electric vehicle market. With its competitive pricing, impressive performance, and advanced features, it is poised to attract a wide range of consumers. The strong pre-order numbers are a testament to the excitement and anticipation surrounding this new model. As Tesla continues to innovate and expand its lineup, the future of electric vehicles looks brighter than ever.
