Terra Motors (PDF) is an Asian company that produces electric scooters. Scooters are a very popular method of transport in many crowded cities because they’re small, easy to park, and highly fuel-efficient. The company has a new electric battery-powered version of its scooter but also offers smartphone connectivity in the dash area.
The scooter is called the A4000i and the company hopes to sell 100,000 units by the end of 2015 mostly in the Asian market. When the smartphone is docked in the dash area, it allows the scooter to store information about usage on the cloud. That usage information includes things such as electricity consumption while riding, remaining battery life, and other data while in use.
The current model of the scooter is only compatible with the iPhone. The manufacturer promises that the scooter can carry two people in the batteries are good for about 50,000 km. Exactly what the electric range will be, how much the scooter will cost, and when exactly it will be available are unknown.
