T-Mobile will publish its financial results for Q4 2015 and the full results for 2015 next month. Ahead of the announcement, the company has revealed that they added 8.5 million new customers last year.
The 8.3 million new customers include 4.5 million postpaid and 1.3 million prepaid customers, bringing their total customer base to 63 million in 2015.
“In 2015 we AGAIN saw 8.3 million customers come to T-Mobile, and 2.1 million in Q4 – marking 11 consecutive quarters of over 1 million net adds and 3 quarters in a row with more than 2 million total nets for the Un-carrier. That means we added 23,000 customers per day, EVERY DAY for the last two years, so trust me when I say we have NO plans to stop disrupting the status quo in wireless!” said the company’s CEO, John Legere.
Growth Strategy and Market Disruption
T-Mobile’s impressive growth can be attributed to its aggressive marketing strategies and innovative service offerings. The company has positioned itself as the “Un-carrier,” a term that signifies its commitment to breaking away from traditional wireless industry practices. This approach has resonated well with consumers who are tired of hidden fees, long-term contracts, and poor customer service.
One of the key initiatives that contributed to T-Mobile’s growth is the introduction of the “Simple Choice” plan, which offers unlimited data, talk, and text with no annual service contracts. This plan has been particularly appealing to younger consumers and those who use their smartphones heavily for data-intensive activities like streaming and gaming.
Additionally, T-Mobile’s “Binge On” program, which allows customers to stream video from popular services like Netflix and Hulu without using their data allowance, has been a significant draw. This program not only adds value for existing customers but also attracts new ones who are looking for more flexible and cost-effective data plans.
Technological Advancements and Network Expansion
Another factor contributing to T-Mobile’s success is its continuous investment in network infrastructure. The company has been expanding its 4G LTE network at a rapid pace, ensuring that more customers have access to high-speed internet. In 2015 alone, T-Mobile added coverage to several rural and underserved areas, making their services accessible to a broader audience.
Moreover, T-Mobile has been at the forefront of adopting new technologies. The company was one of the first to roll out Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Wi-Fi calling, which have significantly improved call quality and reliability. These technological advancements have not only enhanced the user experience but also set T-Mobile apart from its competitors.
T-Mobile’s commitment to innovation is further exemplified by its early adoption of 5G technology. The company has been conducting extensive 5G trials and plans to roll out its 5G network in the near future. This forward-thinking approach ensures that T-Mobile remains competitive in an industry that is constantly evolving.
Customer-Centric Approach
T-Mobile’s customer-centric approach is another cornerstone of its success. The company has made significant efforts to improve customer service, including the introduction of the “Team of Experts” initiative. This program eliminates the traditional call center model and instead assigns customers to a dedicated team of representatives who are familiar with their accounts and needs. This personalized service has led to higher customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Furthermore, T-Mobile has been proactive in addressing customer pain points. For example, the company introduced the “Carrier Freedom” program, which pays off early termination fees for customers who switch from other carriers. This initiative has made it easier for dissatisfied customers to make the switch to T-Mobile without incurring additional costs.
We will have full details on the 2015 results from T-Mobile when they are made official next month.
