Valve has announced that their Steam gaming platform now has more that 65 million active users, and the company has seen an increase of 30 percent on their platform over the last year.
Steam now has more active users than Microsoft’s Xbox Live, which has around 48 million at the last count, and Valve are going to be releasing their own Steam console in the future.
“The main goal of Steam has always been to increase the quality of the user’s experience by reducing the distance between content creators and their audience,” said Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve. “As the platform grows, our job is to adapt to the changing needs of both the development and user communities. In the coming year, we plan to make perhaps our most significant collaborations with both communities through the Steam Dev Days and the Steam Machines beta.”
It will be interesting to see what happens with Valve’s Steam platform, especially when the company launches its own hardware, which we will hear more about next year.
