Following on from the recent release of the Starbucks iOS application with Passbook support in the US. Residents of both Canada and the UK will be pleased to learn that from today they will be able to use Apple’s new Passbook feature with their iOS devices.
Apple has created then you Passbook feature to enable users to store movie tickets, retail coupons, loyalty cards, and boarding passes all in one place.
Your coupons and tickets can be added to Passbook from emails and websites that belong to participating businesses, such as Starbucks. You can then simply scan your iPhone or iPod touch to check into a flight or enter the movie theatre or purchase a coffee.
“With Starbucks for iPhone, you can view your Starbucks Card balance, reload your card, view transaction history, and transfer balance between Cards. And there’s more! Now you can track your Stars and see how close you are to your next free drink in the My Starbucks Rewards Experience.”
Together with the new Passbook support, Starbucks has also ruled out a number of general bug fixes and usability enhancements to their iOS application, which is now available to download as version 2.5 from the iTunes App Store.
