Code snippets discovered in the latest Spotify application, listed next to the recent Uber integration. Indicate that Spotify may be planning to launch a new addition to their range of available audio with the rollout of podcast support within Spotify.
The podcast code was discovered within the developer build of the latest Spotify application and was discovered by developer Ethan Lee, who in the past has also discovered code that related to changes within the Spotify API.
There is also a listing in the latest developer Spotify code for “Magic” But at the current time nothing seems to indicate what this could be associated within the code or the graphics within the Spotify application. Ethan Lee explains :
“A few files point that it is a feature ready to go,” he says. There’s also an image that supports it — pictured here. “My take is that they are releasing it as a response to users’ requests and to become a full-blown iTunes competitor on more than the music front,”
“I’m not sure what this is referring to, or if this is an existing feature with the internal codename ‘Magic’,”-“I could find no places in the app right now that uses the magic wand graphic,”
At the current time Spotify has not confirmed or denied whether they will be adding the newly discovered podcast feature to their service, and a Spotify spokesperson explained :
“In order to keep improving Spotify, we are always testing new things to our different platforms and to various user groups. We don’t have any more information to share right now – but as soon as we do, we’ll let you know!”
