Soundcam has created the very first handheld sound camera which has been designed for everyone. As you would guess the camera images sound sources, watch the demonstration video below to see the sound camera in action. Soundcam has this week launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise the required $30,000 needed to take the handeld sound camera into production. “The system is intuitive and as easy to use as a smartphone. SOUNDCAM locates sound sources in real time and immediately displays the results on the screen.”
Normally sound cameras would cost over €100,000 but the team at Soundcam have been able to create an affordable device that is now available to back with earlybird pledges available from €4,000 providing a 50 percent saving off the recommended retail price of €8,000 which will come into effect once the Kickstarter campaign is completed.
The Soundcam sound camera visualises complex acoustic information and creates a connection between hearing and seeing, enabling users to operate the hardware to analyse and understand sound. “Has noise ever kept you up at night? Ever made you lose concentration? Surely you’ve experienced how annoying it is when devices are too loud or make irritating sounds. At times, noise can be loud enough to damage hearing and at lower levels, it can disrupt normal living. Noise pollution is a problem for everyone.”
